The Bayou
The Bayou on Butler Street in Madison, WI has made its home where a local favorite once resided (Ken’s). Never the less were not going to complain about an establishment catering the food and drinks of one of Americas favorite party regions, Louisiana! Okay first and foremost, let’s talk about the Beer Octopus, um yeah… I said Beer Octopus. Must admit I have nerve heard of or seen such a thing and any other bar or restaurant in Madison, or anywhere else for that matter. The Beer Octopus is this crazy looking contraption that lowers from the ceiling of the bar and allows for a group beer chug… you just have to go see it for yourself. The Bayou offers up a party vibe and expected Nawlins-syle atmosphere, the staff is friendly, the bartender’s flair, and the food and drinks are fairly priced. The menu consists of your standard Nawlins fare, but they do mix it up a bit by combining Louisiana ingredients in dishes you wouldn’t expect to find on their menu… for example their appetizer selection offers up basic choices such as Oysters Rockefeller and Crab Cakes, but then they spice it up by throwing in options like Cajun Cheese Curds, Shrimp & Andouille Nachos, and Spicy Blackened Crawfish Tacos (which were truly AWESOME by the way). As for the rest of their menu you’ll find everything from Gumbo to Po’Boys, and tons of crawfish and seafood dishes. The Bayou is a great place to grab some friends, and let the good times roll.
