Jailbreaking Your ipod or iphone...
For those of you new the “Apple revolution” you most likely have taken a baby step into it by purchasing an iphone or an ipod touch, congratulations (next step: a shinny new macbook or imac)! If you’re anything like me you appreciate the awesomeness of your iphone or ipod touch, but you’re still kind of disappointed by things like the inability to delete any of the stock apps, install third party apps, or just have more customization control over your hardware. Good news for you, there is actually a way around this… hack it.In this post I will be providing you with information on how to hack your ipod touch and/or iphone, so Apple purest now would be a good time to shut your ears and close your eyes. Now let’s start out by clearing up the reasons for “why” you would want to hack your ipod touch or iphone? The answer is simple, hacking your ipod touch or iphone essentially unlocks its ability for further customization and install of “non-Apple” third applications (such as NES and Play Station games and emulators).
Now though this is all very exciting and cool, before we move on you must understand that hacking (aka: “jailbreaking”) your iphone or ipod touch voids it of all and any warranty in place or purchased from Apple (and in addition myself or RedRodger.com will not be held responsible for any damage you do to your ipod or iphone by hacking (jailbreaking) it. You do this at your own risk.
The source I go through when jailbreaking mine my own iphone and ipod touch is QuickPWN.com, so that is where I suggest you go for the "step by step" tutorials. A few important things to note before you go get started:
1. The version of your ipod touch or iphone is extremely important, so you are going to want to go to the general settings icon on your iphone or ipod and view what version your device is (i.e. 2.0, 2.1, etc…) and follow the correct tutorial for your version. I would not recommend trying this if your version does not match exactly to the version of the tutorial because it will not work.
2. Make sure the tutorial you are following is in sync with the OS you are running on the computer you will be using to aid you in the jailbreaking (i.e. Windows PC or Mac OS).
3. Now go to QuickPWN.com and select the corresponding tutorial for your device, and follow all the steps provided. If you do this you should have a successfully jailbroken ipod or iphone. Enjoy!
