Boilermaker
1 shot whisky
1 beer
Drop shot into beer and drink, or drink shot then chase with beer.
Brain-Duster
1 ounce rye whisky
1 ounce absinthe
1 ounce vermouth
1 dash Angostura bitters
Stir everything with ice, strain into glass.
Mint Julep
Mint
1 teaspoon sugar
3 ounces bourbon
Place mint in the bottom of a glass, add sugar and crush slightly with a muddler. Add ice and bourbon, and stir.
Old-Fashioned
1 sugar cube
3 dashes Angostura bitters
club soda
2 ounces rye whisky
Place the sugar cube in an Old-Fashioned glass. Add Angostura bitters and club soda. Muddle the sugar cube then add ice cubes. Pour in the whisky.
Ward Eight Cooler
2 ounces 101-proof bourbon
3/4 ounce lemon juice
3/4 ounce orange juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
Shake or stir well with cracked ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Whiskey Sour
2 ounces bourbon
2/3 ounce lemon juice
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
Shake all ingredients with cracked ice, strain into a chilled glass.
