Could it work, maybe… either way it’s funny as hell. Stumbled upon this little website today, (Corrupted-Files.com) which is basically our generations answer to “the dog at my homework.” The site sells corrupted Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files for $3.95 a pop… and what the fuck for? (I’m sure your asking yourself), well as a means to allow you to turn in your college term paper or homework by the deadline, while actually buying yourself some time to finish the real thing.
The site claims that the corrupted files are guaranteed not to open on a PC or a MAC, and those of you in need of a different file format… don’t you worry your pretty little heads, for just $9.95 you can score yourself a custom order.
The sites instructions are simple:
“Step 1: After purchasing a file, rename the file e.g. Mike_Final-Paper.
Step 2: Email the file to your professor along with your “here’s my assignment” email.
Step 3: It will take your professor several hours if not days to notice your file is “unfortunately” corrupted. Use the time this website just bought you wisely and finish that paper!!!”
Now my guess is this would work just dandy for an exclusively online-based college course, but I have personally had professors (for on site courses) who will request a hard copy of the paper on the day its due, which really throws a “crazy fucking monkey wrench” into this sites whole concept.
So will this work? It might, but then again so might the offering of sexual favors to your professor or TA. Listen up kids, the basic moral of this story is: do your homework and do it on time… and if you don’t, well then you do have options. Good day.
