RedRodger Celebrates Black History Month

RedRodger.com encourages you Celebrate Black History Month month along with us. Throughout the month of February we will be highlighting events taking place around the Madison, WI area dedicated to celebrating African-American history. Below are some events taking place over the next few weekends:

A Freedom Journey to the Milton House at Wisconsin Historical Museum
30 N. Carroll St.. Tuesday, February 3, 12:15-1 p.m.

Readings of Buffalo Soldiers: The Legacy Presented by KOJO Productions
Join us for a reading of the play that depicts the often overlooked role of African-American soldiers in the development of our country.
Saturday, February 14, 3:30 p.m. at the Pinney Branch
Wednesday, March 11, 6:45 p.m. at the South Madison Branch
Wednesday, April 8, 7:00 p.m. at the Sequoya Branch

Black Cultural History Display
Visit the ARTspace of the Madison Municipal Building at 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. during the month of Feburary for an exhibit presented by the City of Madison Minority Affairs Committee. This year’s exhibit focuses on black citizenship in the Americas and highlights a number of “firsts” - African Americans to hold elected positions locally and nationally. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
